How to Give Your Mom a Heart Attack

When you wake her up at 2:30 a.m., let her find you sitting up in your crib.

When you wake her up at 6:00 a.m., let her find you STANDING up in your crib.

Leavin' on a Jet Plane...

...but I've already made it back again.

This whole airplane thing wasn't my favorite experience in the whole world, but we all survived. We got a new house out of the deal, so that's pretty good. And the best part of all? I got a John Deere!

Just One of the Geeks, er, Guys

Today we went to Evanston for dad's graduation. Here he is with LIMS uncle Eric, who finished his dissertation last Fall but didn't get the chance to be hooded until today.

It probably won't surprise you to hear that I didn't make it through the whole ceremony. I hung out and listened to the music beforehand and watched dad process, but that's about all I could manage. Mom and I played in the hallway for awhile before we went back in to see dad get his hood, and then we had to leave again. They were simulcasting the ceremony in a lecture hall nearby, so I took a seat and watched the big TV. The desk is a little big for me, but I think I'll grow into it.
If my head keeps growing, I might eventually grow into this, too.

I'm Busy Right Now

But you're free to come back a little later.

Moving

Rumor has it that we're moving to Tennessee. That road trip that we took a few weeks ago when I got to see my Gran and Pop was for dad to interview at Union University in Jackson, TN. Well, at least I get street cred for being born in Chicago. I hope mom and dad bring me back to visit when I'm older.

We're going to go to Jackson soon to find a house. I'm sure that's going to totally blow my nap schedule, but I like the car and I like to visit new places, so I think it'll be fun. Mom's already started packing some of my things, too. But she and dad often let out deep sighs when they talk about packing up the rest of the things in the house. Before me, they lived in a one-bedroom condo. They've sure done a good job of expanding into all the available space here. I'm just glad I get all the hard work done for me.

John Deere Green

From what I understand, mom and dad got married on Memorial Day seven years ago. I guess they usually go on some romantic vacation every year to celebrate (blech), but decided to hang out with me instead this year. To show my gratitude, I took them to the John Deere Historic Site in beautiful Grand Detour, IL. And all I got was this lousy T-shirt.
