Birthday Weekend

Has it really been a month since we posted? Yikes! When we last left you we were getting ready to celebrate my first birthday! It was a great weekend!
Joshua and I played in the pool all morning and then had good naps. When we got up it was time for the party!
There were balloons and cakes and hamburgers and all sort of great things.
My Gran gave me a pretty dress with watermelons on it so we decided to have a watermelon birthday party. My Vati made his famous carrot cake and decorated it to look like a watermelon. The small one is mine because it's healthier. Whatever. I still ate the whole thing.

Then on Monday Mama and Vati took me to the doctor to get shots. What a great birthday present! I weigh 23 pounds and 1 ounce, which means that I'm finally back on the charts, but barely. My head, however, is still in the 99th percentile. That's me. Big Head Clare!

New Favorite Things

Pop gave me my own set of Lincoln Logs last Christmas, and although I've pulled them out once or twice since then, I've really started to enjoy them recently.

I'm particularly fond of the cantilever. I usually let Mama and Vati get started, and then I start cantilevering away until I come up with something I like. This is just a little something I worked on the other day.

Big Boy Bed!

We finally did it! We finally got rid of the crib, thanks to my friend Charlie who needed to get rid of his old bed to make room for a new one. Vati put it together for me and we kept it in my room for a few days before I officially started using it. Mama, who has definitely lost her bid for "Mother of the Year," decided that I didn't need bed rails because it was so big. Boy was she wrong, as she discovered in the middle of the night. I spent the rest of that night in the crib and we got some rails the next day. I even picked out my sheets and blankets all by myself. I'm still getting used to it, but I think I like it!

Just Hangin' Out

Mama and Vati finally broke down and bought us a pool the other day. We both like it, but I get a little more mileage out of it. After a few instances of ending face-first in the drink, Clare usually decides to call it a day.
Here she is hanging out with Vati after biting it a few times.
And I dragged myself away long enough to join them.

Joshua doesn't know it, but when I wake up from my afternoon nap before he does, I get into all of his stuff!
The other day I crawled into his blocks wagon and slobbered all over his tape measure. I don't think he's onto me yet, so don't tell him, OK?

Vati's Day

Sure, we're a little late, but we wanted to show you a little bit of our Father's Day.

First, Joshua helped Vati make his own Father's Day breakfast.
Later in the day, Vati spent a little time taking in the scenery with Clare.

In between, we went to Memphis for Korean food, Vati's only request for the day. It was really yummy and we think Vati had a good time, too.

Wedding Weekend

Clare and I apologize for keeping our public waiting. We had a big trip come up and are still on the tail end of recovery. See, I was the ringbearer in my cousin Michael's wedding, which meant we traveled all the way to Lexington, KY! We got to stay in a big hotel (that I'm still talking about) and go to a rehearsal dinner. I liked that so much that every time we go out to eat now, I ask if we're going to a rehearsal dinner.
The rehearsal was sort of a disaster, but on the day of the wedding I put on my handsome tuxedo and went to the church to have my picture taken with all of the wedding party! I visited with my whole family, even GG and Great Grandpa Herb, and then I played in the nursery with my new friend Josie while we waited for the wedding to start.When it was my turn to go, I tucked that pillow right up under my arm and stepped over all of Josie's flower petals. When I made it to the end of the aisle, I got a little confused, but I finally found Cousin David. I walked right up to him and gave him the pillow! Then I turned around and ran up the aisle, yelling to mama and Gran, "I give it to Cousin David!" I don't know why Vati made me leave!
It was a long trip, but it was fun. I got to see lots of my family and I met new friends. I stayed in a hotel in my Pack-n-Play, and I got to read lots of books in the car. I think I'll do it again in December. Cousin David booked me for the same gig!

It's been a long time coming, but I finally finished the "hay wagon" puzzle all by myself. It's 100 pieces, so it was a little hard, but I got it!

Big Times

Sorry, no pictures. But I just wanted to let everyone know what I've been up to.

Last Thursday I got my first tooth. We're all glad that's over. Although a second one is on its heels and I'm enjoying it about as much as I did the first one.
Yesterday I learned to go from hands-and-knees to sitting on my bottom. I don't do it much because I rarely sit still, but the point is that I can.
Today I crawled! I was the only one in my Kindermusik class and mom was showing Mrs. Chanda my army-crawling technique. But when mom put me on the floor, I crawled the right way! Mrs. Chanda cried. Mom screamed. It was great!

I'm worn out. Think I'll go to bed now.

Easter!

So while my brother used the toddler tub until his knees touched his chin, I got tired of it really fast. We finally threw it out and got me this fab new inflatable tub. It's fun to sit in even when I'm not in the bath. And when Joshua and I take a bath together, he pushes me around in it like it's my own little boat.

After months of staring at everyone as they ate food, I finally got some. And you're not going to believe this, but, it's really not all that great. It gets stuck on my tongue and then I make awful faces. And if I get some on me, which is pretty much every time, it gets all crusty and sticks to me. I don't know what the big deal is. At least the spoon is fun to play with.

Come to find out, mom wasn't going to start feeding me at all. I was 19 lbs, 8 oz. and 27 inches at my 6 month appointment, so it's not like I needed the calories or anything. I guess I just looked pitiful enough that she decided to let me join the fun.

So, here's the thing. This tunnel used to belong to my brother. But when he got too big for it, they put it in my closet for safe keeping. Don't you know he totally forgot about it until they got it out for me. And now, of course, it's his favorite thing!
He even tries to be all huggy with me so he won't get in trouble for crawling inside, even though we all know he's too big. Don't worry. I'm catching up pretty quickly.

The day after Christmas we headed to Gran and Mike's house to have more Christmas! Here I am with Gran's tree...and my Halloween shirt. That's what happens when Vati dresses me.
Check out my new ride! Oh, how I love my wagon. Gran took me around the neighborhood the next day. Have I mentioned that I love my wagon?
